The Medication Assistance Fund (MAF) is a financial assistance scheme provided by the Ministry of Health to help eligible Singaporeans pay for high-cost specialty drugs, including growth hormone therapy prescribed by public health institutions (Table 4).
The level of subsidy provided under the MAF will depend on your family’s financial and social circumstance. Eligible patients from low-to-middle income households may receive 25‒75% assistance for MAF-listed drugs.43
Patients must meet a specific set of clinical criteria to receive growth hormone therapy under this scheme. Treatment should always be initiated and monitored by a paediatric endocrinologist with special expertise in managing growth disorders in children.27
For more information about MAF, please approach a Medical Social Worker at the outpatient specialist clinic where your child is seeking treatment for growth failure. The Medical Social Worker will guide you through the application process.
